Orthodox spirituality sees in those visitors a picture of the Trinity. Rublev, the artist, represents them sitting before a table with a chalice in it. On the right hand side is a figure clothed in green and blue robes. Those robes represent the green of the earth and the blue of heaven. It is the figure of the Holy Spirit. He is both the One who comes from heaven(blue) as the communicator of divinity to humanity, and yet also the One at home on earth(green) for he was the agent of creation when the world was made, and when the Son was conceived (Genesis 1.2 and Luke 1.35). He is the One who introduces us to the Godhead.
